The opportunity

We are delivering the Turnkey Engineering and Operations solutions for several major rail programmes in the UK and Internationally. We currently have an immediate need for additional Project Managers, preferably with experience in Metro or Mainline railways (new build and upgrade), specifically;

  • Stations (Underground and Over-ground)

  • Overhead Line Electrification (DC and AC, high speed / metro)

  • Track

  • Civils / Structures (inc. Tunnels)

  • Tunnel Ventilation Systems

  • Electrical & Mechanical Systems

  • Signalling Systems (inc ERTMS / ETCS / CBTC)

  • Communication Systems / SCADA (Vital / non-Vital, Voice / Data)

  • Rolling Stock (Light and Heavy Rail Vehicles)

  • Depots

  • Whole Railway System.

As a member of SEMP’s Project Management Team you will report to the PMO Lead and ensure that the engineering teams satisfy Client and SEMP lifecycle requirements based on BS ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, IEEE 1220 and BS EN 50126 / 8 / 9 and that time and budgetary requirements are satisfied.


Responsibilities

  • Developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility

  • Coordinating internal resources and if required third parties/vendors

  • Developing detailed project plans to track progress

  • Using appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs

  • Measuring project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques

  • Reporting and escalating to company and client senior management as needed

  • Managing the relationship with the client and all stakeholders

  • Performing risk management to minimise project risks


About you

  • Relevant engineering degree/qualifications or equivalent experience (PMP/PRINCE II is a plus)

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in project/programme management

  • Previous experience of working on large Metro or Mainline railway programmes

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work both collaboratively and alone
